Yes: Many people have lived very active lifestyles after having and acl injury. Most of these people wear a special acl brace and keep their hamstrings strong to minimize their symptoms. If you also have a meniscal tear the chances you could get by without having surgery becomes less likely.

ACL: You may be able to play at times but it is not advisable. Pivoting and jumping activities are likely to lead to further injuries which are not just painful and will result in the need for periods of recovery but also can lead to progressive damage to your knee and the development of arthritis.
