Be careful not to : Over-generalize from one bad experience. Your mom needs to ask her primary care doctor for a referral to a different pain management specialist. Sometimes attorneys pressure these doctors to "spin" their records in a way that makes the doctor uncomfortable; sometimes it"s just a communication problem. If she feels her treatment was inappropriate, contact the state board of medical examiners.

Pain med specialists: Dr. Fricke makes some good points. I am sorry things have gotten to the point that you hate pain medicine specialists. Frankly, many people who use opioids chronically can misuse the medication & the system. I think that may cause some doctors to become wary and even jaded. Many people are using non-pharmacological treatment options for chronic pain. I hope your mother's pain comes under control.
