A member asked:

Does anyone offer televideo (like skype) in their practoice as a way to get a consultation?

Some may: Some doctors may offer skype as a means of communicating, but generally this is only to existing patients with whom a doctor-patient relationship has already been established. I have done this and it is a very effective tool. The legal difficulty with a new patient or a consultation patient is that there needs to be a good faith examination to constitute a "visit;" not possible via the skype.

Some basics: This HT site is a public forum where volunteer docs answer health questions. No direct services are offered. Some HT docs are also part of HealthTap Prime which offers concierge services including direct consultations through personal computer/visual devices, etc. To sign up for this fee based program contact HT Prime. If you are asking about a local doc, not on HT, you need to ask them directly.
