Yes: The sudden deceleration trauma may cause microscopic changes within the brain, possibly including a tiny amount of vascular damage which results in loss of blood flow to a small area, resulting in the loss of viability of that specific focus of tissue (infarct). However, this also may have happened independent of the mva.
