Possible dehydration: Constipation can be caused by dehydration, which can also cause dry skin and therefore itching. Persistent itching can be caused independent of constipation by dry skin, allergy, systemic (full body) illness, thyroid dysfunction for example. Constipation can be caused independent of itching from immobility, low fiber diet, stress, inflammatory bowel disorder, psychiatric disorder and others.
