A member asked:

Is smoking marijuana during radio iodine treatment safe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unknown: If you are being treated for thyroid cancer, i would not suggest using marijuana, since it does have some effects of suppressing immunity. There is no evidence that it would interfere with the radio-iodine or make it work any less well, but i would abstain for several weeks to be on the safe side. If you are being treated for hyperthryoidism or grave's disease, i don't think it is a problem.
