Change doctors: There is no impediment to discontinuing care with a provider with whom you are not satisfied. But it is best to transfer care, rather than just abruptly stopping. You may even find when you look elsewhere that you've already benefited in ways you'd previously underestimated. In any case, know that there are plenty of options, plenty of styles, lots of different service models. Find 1 that fits you.

Encourage you to : Let the provider know. Sometimes. If you communicate what you desire from a provider - they may be able to provide it. The provider can also be helpful in helping to find a new therapist. This is a much better tact then some take - which is just dropping out of sight..
