3 Distinct D/Os: Schizoaffective d/o is primarily a thought disorder. Bipolar d/o is a mood disorder. Borderline personality d/o is a disorder where one's ability relate to others is impaired. Since psychiatric diagnoses are based on symptoms, you will find many overlaps. This creates difficulty with accurate diagnoses. All three disorders are treatable. They are different: Bipolar disorder refers to a group of conditions whose major feature is some form of depression and/or mania. It remits and returns spontaniously. Schizoaffective disorder follows a similar pattern but includes symptoms like hallucinations. Borderline personality disorder does not come and go and involves a pattern of stormy complex relationships with others and other symptoms.
