I guess possible: A pneumothorax is when air escapes out the lung and pushes the lung away from the chest. I suppose a rib injury during massage could do it. I would assume that there would be a kit of pain with the rib fx. But pneumothoraxes often occur spontaneously. Causes include emphysema, bleb (enlarged air sack ) rupture, trauma, and there is even a type associated with menstral period.
