Taken what?: I am assuming you are referring to her sepsis, in which case the answer is no, sepsis doesn't last for months. Chronic urinary tract infections exist but are uncommon unless there is a resistant organism present.

Highly unlikely: Unless there was a smoldering urinary tract infection for weeks. May have exploded into sepsis. Even asymptomatic UTI in diabetic needs treatment.
