Call your dentist: It depends greatly on the complexity of the surgery and your pain threshold. If the area is still sore and the pain is not too bad, it is not uncommon to still have some discomfort at this time. However, if all of a sudden the pain has gotten worse, you need to call your dentist to make sure that you have no infection or a dry socket. I recommend that you call your dentist regardless for advice.

Possible Dry Socket : It is normal to have a certain amount of pain after an extraction. This pain gradually subsides over the following week. If your pain was minimal the first 2 or 3 days and then started to get worse you may have developed a dry socket. See your dentist for treatment.

Not abnormal: Depending on location and amount of bone removed for procedure, some discomfort is to be expected after surgical removal of a tooth. If pain persists, visit dentist who did procedure to make sure you don't have a dry socket.
