Not that bad: It's over in seconds, and not as bad as you might think. Something along the lines of having blood drawn from your arm, or a shot of dental anesthesia.

Uncomfortable : Have them inject Lidocaine gel before the catheter and it should help. There are really no sig side effects from Lidocaine except for allergy perhaps.
