Cough after exercise: Coughing up non-bloody phlegm after exercise could be related to post-nasal drip or mucus from the lower airways as is seen in asthma. Even if there is no wheeze or chest tightness, asthma would be an important possibility to exclude. About 70% of asthmatics have symptoms with exercise. If this is recurrent, get it checked out. Continue to avoid smoke!

Exercise & Phlegm: One of the main causes of phlegm is allergies. One suggestion is to cut out all dairy products as they lead to phlegm. You do not need dairy in your diet, however you do need calcium. I ask my patients this question: "when is the last time you saw an adult cow drink milk?" never, is the answer. Adults do not need milk or other dairy products. You will be fine without it.
