Ovarian cyst: Occasionally a small ovarian cyst (<3-4 cm) can cause pain. This can be because the cyst is leaking fluid or blood that causes pain or when the egg released the ovary bled into itself and formed a blood filled cyst. Normally both resolve in 1-2 weeks, with pain decreasing. So by the time the period comes the pain is gone. Going on birth control pills can also help. See your doc if no better.
