Ankle injury: Probable strain/sprain of ankle (involves ligaments & tendons, which can take months to heal) or may have avulsed tip of fibula. Arthritis can involve injured joints. If ankle wasn't x-rayed at time of injury, see doc for exam & possible imaging study. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or an NSAID (advil/motrin/aleve) may be enough for pain relief, but doc can tell whether rx is needed.
