Yes take brisk walk: My advice is to go out and walk as you inhale the wonderful freah air. Look up at the calm sky. Nothing more beautiful. You are the captain of your ship of emotions. Allow yourself to sail and be at peace. Tell yourself you arenot going to be hyper or depressed, just smiling and having fun in your mind. Go for it and keep an even temperament. Take care.

Mixed mania: When mania and depression is present together it's called mixed mania. The only effective way to treat is to take your medications. Talk to your psychiatrist and you will need a mood stabilizer like Depakote or lithium.

See a psychiatrist: A combination of manic and depressed symptoms is called a "mixed state" in bipolar disorder. A mixed state is commonly characterized by a dark negative mood, combined with the intense energy, irritability, impulsivity, grandiosity, and lack of need for sleep. If the diagnosis of a bipolar mixed state is confirmed, then medication is usually the first treatment step, accompanied by talk therapy.

Mixed states: I agree with all of the answers, these are the worst symptoms but don't despair. Usually any antidepressants have to be stopped while mood stabilizers as noted above are optimized. It is not uncommon to fall deeper into depression as the antidepressants are stopped but these add fuel to the fire. Reducing the agitation brings some relief exercise and bright lights are helpful in the transition.

See a good pro: Mixed mood states in bipolar are more distressing than depression alone and riskier than mania alone. Are you seeing a professional who can help? He or she she be aware of and responsive to your concern.
