Yes!: This much inflammation poses serious cardiovascular and stroke risks. A high ESR means high clotting factors. Polymyalgia is serious rheumatic disease, alone. See a rheumatology specialist, if you can.

Yes, treat now best: If a 79 yo can't get out of bed, that is an emergent issue by itself that should be promptly addressed. Pmr is often treated initially with Prednisone (cortisone) and usually responds quite well. I would not wait 3 days for treatment. Call your doctor today.
