The most common: Cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis, the hallmark symptom of which being pain after rest. But that's by no means the only cause of heel pain. At 61, a common cause of heel pain is loss of the fat pad under the heel. There are also some arthritic conditions which are associated with heel pain. So rather than give you an internet diagnosis and possibly mislead you, it's best to see a podiatris.

Plantar fascitiis: Is a possibility. You can try icing it, performing achilles tendon stretches and utilizing an arch support. If no relief visit a podiatrist.
