No necessary if ok: In my experience, with a stomach bug, you usually have a day or 2 of vomiting and 1-2 weeks of diarrhea. If you child maintains hydration, meaning, urinating at least 3 x in 24 hours, then you should be fine. If you can not keep you child hydrated or see blood in the stools, the child needs to be seen. Put a gauze pad in the front so that you can tell if there is urine output.

Assess the wet: Hers is the typical course of a stomach bug - first the vomiting, then the unrelenting diarrhea. The big question is whether you are keeping her hydrated enough, and has she been able to take a few bites of food here and there. If she is peeing, mouth is moist, she cries tears, then you are porbably ok with hydration. She needs to start a few bites of food to start healing the gut. Bottomsup!
