Should be: Up to 7 grams of fennel seed is considered safe for adults, although there toxicity is not well established. Fennel is often used to promote breast feeding. There is a case report of a child having neurotoxicity (the brain was affected) from the mother drinking fennel seed tea. This was not permanent. I do not find any other sources that site concerns.

OK to go: Fennel seed and its extract is fine to use during breastfeeding. There are actually some reports that it may enhance milk supply. So as with everything when you are breastfeeding, use in moderation and relax and enjoy this time with your new baby. Congratulations!
