A member asked:

Does progesterone stop your period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: If you have had abnormally prolonged bleeding, Progesterone may stop the bleeding in many cases. Prolonged Progesterone treatment (like with the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud) may prevent periods. However, if you do not ovulate on your own and miss a period for several months, Progesterone can start your period. It is best to review your particular situation with your doctor.
