A member asked:

Are we born with a finite supply of muscle cells?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Nerve and muscle cells belong to tissues groups that don't reproduce...When they die, they are replaced by connective tissue that does reproduce...There are four basic tissues in your body, muscle, nerve, connective, and epithelial ....Two are specialized (nerve and muscle) and don't reproduce, and two are non-specialized (epithelial and connective) and do reproduce.
