Artificial inseminat: Artificial insemination (ai) can be performed intravaginally with unprocessed semen or intrauterine with washed semen (semen processed to remove the seminal plasma --which can cause severe cramps). If your performing the standard ai you don't have to insert the semen very far into the vagina. Intrauterine insemination requires a lab to process the sample, and a special cathether to insert.
