Speech therapy: Most causes of hoarseness in children are caused by screaming, resulting in vocal nodules or bumps on the vocal folds. These cause changes in the voice that persist, but can improve with voice therapy. If you have had a poor voice for over 3 month, an exam by an ENT doctor is important and treatment will be recommended based on what they see. Surgery is rarely necessary.
