Do not panic: Most children with absence events are not aware or feel confused. If you panic, they will panic and get worse. If you are calm and reassuring, they will calm and more quickly recover. Direct them to sit and calm and protect them from harm. Talk to them calmly but do not expect answers.

Treated?: She should be evaluated and treated by her pediatrician, developmental pediatrician or neurologist. She doesn't have to suffer loss of environmental inputs, conversation or educational failure.
