Depends on age & hx: It depends on age of the new born. If he/she has not pooped in the first 48 hrs, then the pediatrician needs to evaluate the baby. The bowel habits change of older babies(w normal bm )change. It is ok for the baby not to poop for 3-4 days as long as they are feeding well and when they do have a bm it is nice and soft. There are other age specific measures but you should talk to your babies pcp.

Question unclear: If the kid has never pooped it has a blockage and needs evaluation. If you mean he doesn't poop much, more info is needed. Breast fed babies can have a little smear with each feed or have one big blowout every 7-10 days.Bottle fed kids will poo more predictably & should go daily. If the poo is soft it is not considered constipation.
