No: Egg allergy is a contraindication to FluMist (as with the regular flu vaccine). To clarify, FluMist is contraindicated in any patient with an egg allergy. The regular ("killed") flu shot can only be given to those with mild egg allergies - hives at most & with additional precautions. Any other reaction to eggs is not recommended. Get the Flu shot: Egg allergy is not an absolute contraindication to receive the flu vaccine. The aaaai and the cdc have published guidelines regarding the administration of the flu vaccine in patients who are egg allergic. Flu vaccine can be given to those who are egg allergic.
