Ultrasound: Sometimes a test called musculoskeletal ultrasound can reveal things an MRI cannot. It is a special kind of ultrasound that shows details of structures down to the nerve fibers. That might help you and your doctors discover the cause of your pain. If nothing there, try osteopathic manipulative medicine (omm) for help with clearing things up.

Yes.: Severe pain following cts surgery is not the norm. This requires evaluation by your surgeon. Rarely, patients develop a pain syndrome following hand surgery. Early intervention leads to a better outcome.

May be normal or not: Pain following carpal tunnel surgery can be expected for a few weeks. If it is electrical with shooting pains this may be related to the median nerve beginning it's regeneration from all the time it was compressed. Give it time. If symptoms persist for more than a few months i would get a repeat EMG to ensure adequate decompression occurred and no damage was done to the nerve during surgery.
