Need a dx: Headaches must be defined by where, when & how often they occur, how much they impair functioning & what makes them go away.They can be from systemic illness like high blood pressure, infections like sinusitis, TMJ problems, migraines , some vision problems, brain tumors, or stress. Have your son keep a "headache diary" & see his pediatrician..

Chronic headache is : Very uncommon in children. Beside an eye exam a consultation with a Pediatric Neurologist is suggested
If all exams are normal a psychological evaluation would be next step.
