Pregnenolone: Is a steroid hormone made in the body from cholesterol: its is a direct precursor hormone for Progesterone and 17oh-p, and so is a building block for all androgens and estrogens. Mineralocorticoid hormones are also made from pregnenolone.

Pregnenolone: Is a steroid hormone precursor in the steroid biosynthesis pathway that is synthesized from side chain cleavage and hydroxylation of cholesterol. While it has biological activity of its own it is commonly known as the precurosor of Progesterone and other sex steroids like testosterone and estrogen.
