Dog allergy: A reaction in some people to exposure to the dander on dogs that results in coughing and wheezing, red, itchy eyes runny, itchy, stuffy nose, sneezing or a rash on the face or chest. This is a result of release of histamine by immune cells. It usually is not the dog's hair or fur but flakes of dead skin as well as the saliva and urine of the dog that people are usually allergic to.
