Dr consult necessary: There are many thoughts and studies on this topic. Many doctors feel that a vaginal birth after a c/s is dangerous to mother and baby, while other dr's think a trial of labor is possible. It will require a detailed discussion with your dr.

Depends: The current literature support a trial of labor after cesarean for most women. Success varies from 60-75% depending on the reason for your first cesarean. The risk of uterine rupture (old scar opening) is <1%, but could have devestating consequences. You would need to be followed by an ob/gyn (not fp or midwife) who would be able to perform an emergency c/s if needed. Ask your dr about it.
