Smoking harmful: Stopping smoking was a good decision. Having smoked may have harmed the baby, but it's too late to worry about that. That you stopped, and hopefully will stay off cigarettes was the right thing to do for yourself and your baby.

I agree with Dr. E: It's great that you quit. I hope no one else in your household smokes, because infants passively inhale the tobacco smoke. Even if they smoke outside, it clings to their clothes. The effects of tobacco can be small head or body size, decreased gray matter, abnormal development of white matter, with both language & visual-spatial deficits, adhd, & behavior problems, but early intervention can help.
