Need diagnosis...: Suppressing a cough is not always the correct treatment. Your cough needs to be diagnosed before it can be properly treated. Possible etiologies for your cough include acute bronchitis, bronchospasm from any cause, gerd, post-nasal drip or a combination of factors. See your doctor so your cough can be diagnosed and treated. If you smoke, you need to quit asap!

Maintain: You should give your doctors plan and your body a chance to work. Not k owing your medical situation, i would call your prescribing doctor to let him know you are not happy with current plan. He will then give you a better option. But realize it will take some time.
