Fiber: Try otc laxatives and fiber rich foods but fiber supplements are helpful. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a good laxative. See your doctor for further evaluation- depending on your age, what the cause may be, etc.

Fiber and Water: The recommendations are to have a fiber intake of about 25-35 grms every day. Fiber without water does not work, so make sure you complement your fiber with water. Try fiber one cereal. It has about 14grms of fiber per serving and that's a good way to start your day. Psyllium supplements are also good. Search online for foods rich in natural fiber.
