Hand pain: Sounds more like tendonitis, rather than carpal tumel syndrome. Try stretching, intermittent breaks from typing, mouse pad, resting palmar pad, adjustable seat height.

Tendonitis: Carpal tunnel usually results in numbness and tingling. Arthritis is generally accompanied with joint swelling. What you have like seems like tendonitis. Best to have it checked out by a local hand doctor. You may be able to effectively treat it with some nsaids.
