Bony Lesion: This is because you may have a hematoma/contusion (the painful swelling described) that is limited to this or worse, associated with a fracture. But this also may represent something more ominous if this was actually pre-existing such as a neoplastic process (tumor) and was only incidentally discovered because of trauma. See your physician who can help you with diagnosis (may involve an xray).
