A member asked:

Will having too much in common make a relationship boring?

It doesn't have to: Having a lot in common can be great, because you understand each other. But if the two of you are always together, your relationships with other people can deteriorate. You might stop doing the things you used to enjoy, simply because your partner isn’t in on it. This can make one feel smothered and irritated. It's healthy for each partner to have his own interests - it keeps things interesting!

Got drama?: Maybe having things in common would bore people who require high drama in their relationships. :-) others, not so much. Even if you both grew up in the same town, you're still 2 different people whose experiences are not identical. Even people growing up in the same family can come out vastly different! staleness sets in when you assume things about each other, without being open to what is.

Those like us: Research reveals that one of the most important factors that brings people together is similarity. We tend to be more attracted to people who are similar to us in demographics, attitudes and values, and personalities. People with similar personalities tend to end up together in the first place, tend to like each other more as time goes by, and tend to have happier relationships.
