Get checked: If you are using ventolin more than 2 times weekly you need to be on a long term controller. If you are on a long term controller already then it may need to be increased or you may not be using it correctly. A spacer may be helpful. Your heart symptoms could be from the ventolin, especially if you are using it too much. See an allergist to control your asthma.

Workup/mgt: Your asthma is not well controlled. Your rapid heart rate may be related to the use of albuterol. Your inability to go up a flight of stairs should be further investigated. Other possible causes include cardiac problems. An EKG 12 lead can be performed at your physicians office. For your asthma, a pulmonary test and addition of a controller medication may be rxd by your doctor.
