OTC: You can take some otc pain killers such as advil or Aleve (naproxen) or what you normally would take for a headache. You can try some topical anesthetic such as orajel but that is unlike l to help much if at all. Avoid hot, cold, sweet foods and eat on the other side. I would strongly recommend you see a local dentist at least for a diagnosis. Then you could elect to be treated or wait until you get home.

Antibiotics: If you are travelling with antibiotics you can take them. You will control an infection if it exists.

Advil/tylenol: A combination of advil(ibuprofen) and tylenol (acetaminophen) is very effective. 600mg/1000mg of advil/tylenol has been shown in a study to be as effective as a medium strength narcotic pain killer such as hydrocodone. Good luck!

Risky: Although otc pain relievers may help, pain is in indicator of infection. Your best alternative may be to contact the nearest us embassy or consulate and ask for a recommendation to a local dentist.
