Blood clot: The gold standard to diagnose a blood clot is with an ultrasound doppler. Your body will dissolve the clot with time. The medication you're taking is to prevent future clots. If you have no clotting disorders and this is your first and clot, you will only need to be on the medication for 3 to 6 months. You will need another ultrasound to determine if the clot is completely dissolved.
