What is the definition or description of: vaginal hysterectomy?

Vaginal hysterectomy: The uterus is removed through the vagina by special surgical technique. It is an excellent way to have a hysterectomy since it does not leave a scar on the abdomen. Recovery is shorter than the abdominal approach. Though no surgery is without risk, this is a very favorable option for hysterectomy. Discuss the benefits and risks of various surgical approaches with your surgeon.

As stated: A vaginal hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus surgically through the vagina. That route does not require any incisions in the abdomen and usually results in less pain and a quicker recovery than an abdominal surgery.

Vaginal Hysterectomy: Vaginal hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix through the vagina (with no visible incisions/ scars). The procedure offers faster recovery and lower risk than abdominal surgery. The ovaries and tubes can also be removed at the same time, or left in place.
