MH and anesthesia: Malignant hyperthermia is an inherited disease triggered by certain medications used in anesthesia that can lead to a life-threatening crisis during or shortly after surgery. It is fairly rare, but potentially life-threatening if unrecognized and untreated. The malignant hyperthermia association of the United States is an excellent source of information. http://www.mhaus.org.
