General Surgery: General surgeons typically operate on a variety of abdominal organs, most commonly hernias and gallbladders. General surgeons also perform operations for many intestinal problems, along with breast and skin diseases, as well as manage trauma and critical care patients. Some do all of these, and some specialize in a specific area. In rural settings, they may do orthopedic & ob/gyn cases too.
