CD4: Is a glyco protein found on surface of immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages & dendritic cells. It assists t-cell receptors in communicating with an antigen-presenting cell, hewnce facilitating entry of HIV virus into the cell. Measuring the CD4 count is used to determine prognosis in HIV treatment.
