Can be: Knuckle cracking is very common and has not ever been proven to cause any damage. Unless there is pain orthere has been an injurythere is no need for concern.

Maybe: Sometimes soft tissue can catch on bony prominences causing the poping, maybe trigger finger. One would really have to examine the finger to give you the diagnosis.
