The cracking noise when moving your wrists and finger joints is a common phenomenon, it is usually harmless. The sound is caused by the release of gas bubbles that form in the synovial lubricating fluid. When moving pressure inside joints changes, causing the bursting bubbles to make a popping sound. Pain or swelling, could mean an underlying condition such as arthritis or ligament damage.
