Beware the Biting: Chronic nail biting can increase your risk of infections, not only at the fingertips but in your oral cavity and systemically. At work especially you are touching keyboards, doorknobs, etc. Which coworkers may also have handled. Infections such as cold sores, mouth ulcers, warts and other viral illness may be contracted. Lastly, biting can lead to nail discoloration and deformity over time.

Nailbiting: Nail- biting is a problem which is called a stress injury to the skin. You should do all in your power to find out the causes of the stresses which induce you to bite your nails. There are other things you can chew on beside yourself, like gum, and other non-caloric processes. Stop biting them and listen to your psychologist. If you do if you have one; get one if you don't!
