What is the definition or description of: total cholesterol?

Math!: Total cholesterol is the ldl-c (bad cholesterol) + the hdl-c (good cholesterol) + one-fifth of the triglycerides (bad fats). The total cholesterol is not nearly as important as the values for ldl-c, hdl-c and triglycerides. For most people, LDL should be under 100. Hdl should be over 45, and triglycerides should be less than 150.
