What is the definition or description of: eosinophil?

Kind of white cell: These white blood cells are specialized for killing worms (not "parasites") by discharging the highly alkaline contents of their red-staining ("eosin"-staining) granules onto them. They're plentiful in the body and home to places where worms may attack or allergic reactions are in progress. Pathologists liken them to "raspberries wearing sunglasses.".
